The weather in Beaufort County has been unseasonably cold, delaying Spring’s arrival. Infrequent warm days, though, have brought about the most incredible blooms and new growth. During one of these warm days I took a walk around my garden and witnessed the glory of nature’s heartbeat and resolute cycle of life.
It has taken me some time to appreciate the Southern bounty of Spring blooms. I was accustomed to other harbingers of Spring – the sweet smell of lilac and lily of the valley, the beautiful faces of tulip and narcissus, the golden brightness of forsythia against the grey sky and the white and pink blooms of dogwood in the forest landscape.
Although different, I think you will see that Southern blooms offer the same joyful pronouncement that Spring is near! I hope you enjoy the results of my discoveries.
